Weeks 4 / 8 - Science of Baking: each day students will participate in mini experiments and bake up some delicious treats!  We will be kneading, rolling, scooping, measuring and having fun while we make bread, cake, cookies, and so much more!  Focus for this week is to demonstrate the science behind baking by doing experiments with ingredients we also bake with.

 Day 1: Baking fundamentals, chemical reactions (yeast, baking soda solution, sugar in bubbles).

 Day 2: Knife skills, understanding various leaving agents, baking fundamentals

Day 3:  How to make butter, and how to use butter when baking in different ways (cold butter = flaky, melted butter = chewy)

 Day 4: Working with different kinds of dough; STEM activity

 Day 5: Putting together skills from the whole week (chemistry, baking fundamentals), STEM Challenge
