What is our mission?

The Flavor Labs is a kid’s cooking studio with a mission to change the way children engage with food.   STEM, food education and sustainability are core to our curriculum, and nurture an appreciation for food and the science behind it.  Experimenting with flavors and ingredients fosters creativity and encourages children to think “outside the bowl”.   We have seen firsthand how much independence children gain in the kitchen when given the appropriate level of guidance – and the confidence that follows is a testament to the work we do every day.

It all started when…

The Flavor Labs was founded by Casey Jojic, a former finance executive who left a professional career to pursue her lifelong passion.   After 17 years in the wealth management industry, most recently specializing in sustainability, Casey turned her attention to helping children nurture an appreciation for food through hands-on teaching.  Her vision behind The Flavor Labs is centered around demystifying the kitchen.  With a goal of making cooking and baking more accessible for children and their families, The Flavor Labs teaches the skills to create dishes that can be easily replicated.  The use of simple ingredients and non-commercial kitchen equipment makes it easy to bring The Flavor Labs’ lessons home.

Casey is a resident of Closter, NJ and mother of two young daughters who love to help in the kitchen.   She has an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business, where she specialized in Entrepreneurship.  The idea of the Flavor Labs was actually first borne out of a group project at NYU with a classmate - who is now Casey’s husband and biggest supporter! They are both thrilled to finally see this entrepreneurial venture come to life!
